Wasn't he just wonderful? Does he still perform, and, if so, where?
I love Glenn Yarborough
love this beautiful song!
love this beautiful song2
@penhappy -it was written by Phil Ochs (1940-1976)
I thought this was Phil Oates, or Oaks? Song..anybody know what I am talking about?
@owlloverbabe
HI,
I JUST WENT TO HIS WEBSITE AND PURCHASED SOME CD'S. THEY CAME RIGHT ON TIME AND SOUNDED GREAT. HOPE THIS HELPS.
i USED TO HAVE SEVERAL OF HIS ALBUMS ON 33 1/3 R.P.M. I WISH I COULD FIND SOME AGAIN. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OF WHERE I CAN BUY SOME OF HIS RECORDINGS.
Thank you! Beautiful meditation!
Complicated. When TJ's StonStud first channel of general music vids hit 2 million views (a lot in early YT days), the record companies screamed CopyVio and YT banned him. So TJ got all the permissions that he thought he needed from GL, management etc to post a video of every one of Lightfoot's recorded songs - he was halfway through when the same thing happened again. 88 of TJS' Stonewall videos are still available on Yahoo Video - search for stonewall studios.
Professionaly speaking, I think you did an excellant job with this video.
It's beautiful, as are all of his recordings.
Such a rare voice that's never changed in quality. We had the pleasure of seeing him perform many times and he's as nice as he is talented.
gony82, didn't Stonewall Studios post gordon Lightfoot's "Shadows" and "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald?" Do you know what happened to those videos? The W. of E.F video always made me cry.
Stonewall Studios' videos were so well done.
P.S. your video is very much like theirs- well done.
There but for Fortune " is my favorite Phil Ochs' composition. He sings it beautifully and Joan Baez covers it magnificently.
Check her out.
Back in the 60's when Glen was at the height of his popularity he quit evreything, bought a big sailboat and sailed it around the world for years!
Glenn Yarborough was a singer from my school days. And he was one of the very best folk singers around. His music was extraordarily beautiful and I'm so delighted to hear it here on YouTube.
Glenn Yarborough was a very underrated singer.
The video is supurb! Glenn does a wonderful version of this song. Have played this video many times.
Very nice version. Glen also does a great version of Phil Ochs 'CRUCIFIXION'
For you folks who haven't heard the originals by the original songwriter...please check out Phil Ochs. He has many songs available on YouTube....including the ultimate version of Pleasures of the Harbor.
wonderful this is the first time i have heard glen's version i have phil och's on cd just amazing and this is from a rocker chick
Beautiful
Where Can I fing "Rose" or "the Mermaid"?
Beautiful music here...I'm probably one of the many people who discovered him through his hand in the Rankin & Bass Hobbit/RotK cartoonsm and I have to say that I am rather amazed with this guy.
Your comment says it all. This is one of the best videos I've seen here.GONY82 says this is first attempt at this. A Homerun in his first at-bat.
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL! Thank you so much for posting. If you have any other Glenn songs, please put them on. He's hard to find. Thanks
