0:31 looks like a crash out of the BURNOUT series
its 1990
Holy Crap! Todays NASCAR cars are safer that that, so with the idiots now in the sport (i.e. Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, etc.) were driving the cars they had back in '90, when this wreck happened, they would most likly be dead. No offense to the Logano or Harvick fans.
this was 1990 not 1988
theres another crash exactly like this at bristol and the guy came out uninjured
@cnycarnut they re-enforced the gate and added something similar to the SAFER Barrier behind it after the Waltrip wreck, so they did do something.... but the late 80s wasn't exactly a time that people in auto racing had good ideas for safety when it came to the track features itself. Just think, many road courses didn't even have tire barriers still, you think people were really worried about a gate back then?
WTF??? as you see both the car and the barrier just turned into an ordinary steel
@sk4382 and SAFER barriers was a great idea also.
wow he's lucky theres a wreck juz like this of a nascar race in mexico where the guy wasnt as lucky n died
The person(s) responsible for that gate should be locked up for quite a while.. Seriously. Even in 1988 they had brains...
virtually uninjured as in a couple of bruses and scrapes, but nothing remotely serious
or its just bad luck...
thank god
"virtually uninjured" wtf?
1990 actually
LOL
how did he survived that?!?!? incredibly lucky. I always liked Waltrip
Genius, not genious, idiot.
NASCAR does not operate that track, and can't be entirely blamed for the slow response regarding that gate. I do agree, however, that NASCAR is slow to learn in other aspects of safety.
DW is about as dumb as.....well the words escape me he is so dumb. Hey mom....he's a Waltrip...huh huh huh.
WOW! That shows how NASCAR is not very quick to learn..... this happened to Mike Harmon 10 years later before they finally figured out it was a good idea to get rid of that gate.
1990 not 1988, genious!
i will never understand how harmon and waltrip walked out of those cars. i also will never understand why nascar hadnt fixed that gate by now. the fact harmon had to go through that in the first place was unacceptable in my opinion. waltrips crash should've taught them a lesson.
us morons...
no international raceway is what it used to be called.
