7. In the late 50's-mid 60's, prime time TV stars were contracted to do commercials for their sponsors. Even voice over prime time actors. Groucho Marx made commercials for DeSoto cars. The cast of the Beverly Hillbillies made several commercials for Kellogg's. Even the Monkees made commercials (also for Kellogg's). In those days, advertising cigarettes was perfectly acceptable in prime time.
